I do not currently have any photo editing software and I am thinking of purchasing Photo Shop but am very confused what part to purchase. Do i purchase the original and then have to add elements to it. Or do i just purchase the elements that i like. Any info would be greatly appreciated as they are all very expensive and I cannot afford to buy things that I don't need.
Thank You,
Tracey

Photoshop Elements 10 will be all that you need IMHO.
Premier Elements 10 includes video.
Elements was designed for photographers and CS5 was designed for graphic artists.

PhotoShop and PhotoShop Elements are two entirely separate programs, although PS Elements is a subset of PhotoShop. You do not need to buy Elements for PhotoShop. There are many "plugins" available for PhotoShop, but don't buy these unless you need a specific one for a specific purpose.

I use several; my favorite basic is PSE 10. LR3 by Adobe is most helpful but for later. Adobe has a ton of "tutorials" also that are free.

Show us some shots after you decide.

Elements will remove power lines with the clone tool. It's a skill you'll have to acquire, however, not just a button to push and voila! Elements is a similar program as Photoshop but Photoshop has way more bells and whistles. You may be satisfied with Elements (a lot of digital scrapbookers use it) as it can do some of the editing that its big sister can. And if that works for you then you're good. Since both offer free 60-day (I believe, if not 30-day) trials, check them out.

In regards to heyjoe's and eglide02's statements
(http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/tpr?p=388566&t=26178 &
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/tpr?p=388591&t=26178), this is true for a lot of things. The idea is to gather your thoughts about what you want to do with editing software (in your case remove power lines) and then research it the simplest way known to man (and woman  ) - Google it! There are actually programs out there much less expensive that will remove unwanted items from your images and cost way less such as http://www.theinpaint.com/ - $19.99.

Of course, Photoshop and Elements does it:
