New Kid on the Block...
Hello, all. I just ran across the UH Forum a week or so ago, and have really enjoyed browsing it, learning from discussions and critiques, and picking up new techniques & ideas. You are a pretty civil and collegial group; it's amazing what a community-minded social contract can accomplish.
I'm recently retired to Northern California, but am really a native Texan, and most recently an Oregonian by choice. But gotta remember, "A Texan never really moves anywhere; he's always just visiting!"
Had 40 years plus in 35 mm. photography, B&W processing and color slides, for both work and play. Tried Canon, but wound up with about 4 Konica SLR bodies & a varied batch of lenses. Took numerous credit and non-credit classes, built a home lab, but then I sort of "Let it Go" in recent years.
And then digital photography evolved, and I was drawn to start enjoying myself with image-making once again. Haven't yet invested in DSLR, but made a progression through about 5 P&S cameras. I've kept the most recent two, a Fuji FinePix S602Z and a S2550HD. These are PSs, that are "almost" full-fledged DSLRs. But only zooms, not removable lenses.
I'm mostly drawn to landscape & nature images. Lived and traveled throughout the Southwest, fell in love with Oregon and the Pacific NW. As a result, I of course love desert, mountains, trees, plants, water, and such.
Here follow several of my images. These are unaltered originals, I've produced cropped and manipulated versions and prints of these and many others.
BTW, the beached boat original is in pretty sharp focus, when you look at the original; the Capitol Mall is a shot out of my old office window; the Lake Tahoe shot is an in-the-camera panorama of three frames, using the FinePix S2550HD.
Would appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Cheers,
-eprose
