Day 49 - Photo A Day Challenge - 2-18-2012

Welcome to Day 49 :) Today marks 7 weeks of this challenge, and I am seeing incredible improvement in everybody's photos .. thank you for hanging in here with me. Today it's going to be all about Black and White Photography. The key ingredients in good black and white photos are: Contrast, Lighting, Shapes and Patterns, and Textures. Some of you might be saying to yourself "Hey ! These are all the things we went over this week!" I promise it's a coincidence LOL.. totally unplanned, but kinda cool.
Almost all photos look good in color... but it's the true test of composition to show them in black and white. So with this in mind .. you pick the subject matter... can be anything as long as it's in black and white.
Here are a few examples to get us started.

funny what I will take a photo of when I'm just sitting on the rocks LOL
these guys are either homeless or part of occupy Tucson .. I see them all over the place

Your examples are all great photogrl57. I have never done black and white so this should be interesting!
I know several people have thanked you for this challenge and I want you to know I appreciate it as well. I came here hoping to learn and never dreamed I would find such a wonderful group of people as here on this daily challenge!
I probably won't post again until Monday or Tuesday. Unless I get something early tomorrow, going to go away for the weekend.
I am sure you are beginning to realize how much we all appreciate your dedication to this daily challenge and you.

Love the pepsi truck. Here are a few I've been working on. Liking B&W more every day. Sorry, these are from the last few months. We're headed out today for camping and more photo opts this morning, got rained out last night, hope to bring back more to share.

I love the kids in black and white they look awesome .. and what an unusual looking bird the third one is ... very cool :)

I thought about you yesterday chris .. they had a warthog parked not 6 feet from the road on the base .. I tried to get a shot of it as a driveby .. but I was doing the driving and they all came out fuzzy LOL .. I'm gonna go back to see if I can get it today.
