Ringneck in backyard

Spotted this one strolling through my backyard. I guess that they consider my backyard a safe zone since I'm not hunting this year...
(and the cats don't go near them)

what a beautiful bird , male ? i dont hunt anything my last hunt was about 25 years ago , decided hunting with a lens left my prey there for next time ,not even fish

Yes, it's a male (rooster) - bright colors so the females notice them...
The females (hens) on the other hand are brown so they blend in with the surroundings.
In the states I hunted in, only the males could be harvested.

Beautiful. We used to have a lot of pheasant but not so much now. I think the last time I saw one here was 8 or 9 years ago. Such a pretty bird. Thanks for sharing.

When I was stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station in the 70's there was a pheasant farm down on Harpswell Island - a photographers dream ;)
