Cholly, who CARES what the ISO of any camera is.
Am I in denial? Who cares. Why are so many fixated on the minutiae of specs? Do you think pros fixate on the unimportant specs? Let's see a shot where it ever made a difference in the real world? Don't have one do you. Neither does anybody else. Real Pros don't care, and amateurs should shot for making better pics like the pros.
What matters is what happens in the real world. Where the rubber meets the ROAD!!
Sony has been known to flop with superior products before. Too bad!
Careful, Photojojo is nipping at Sony's heels.

The power of suggestion, it's working!!
Sorry Charlie....I mean, Cholly!
Hey, I've NEVER talked about low light, because it really doesn't mean anything to me. Sure, more is better, it always will be, it CAN'T be worse, but I know how to handle low light, no matter WHAT my limits are. I have lots of shots in low-light/dark and they rarely have noise.
There will ALWAYS be shots that you can't get, you know, the ones that would-have-been the best shot you have ever taken but it got away?!!
For those that think that a shot is anything other than composition, it's only because they don't know anything about composition, which is to know nothing of photography.
It's more important to get shots that look good, not shots that look good!!?

Ask not what your camera can do for you, but what you can do with your camera!!

I know you're jesting and trying to get a response. Slow day I suppose?

Ever tried astrophotography or nightscape photography with a camera having a max. of ISO 400? Do try it sometime then answer your question...

[quote=SharpShooter]  Thanks for a good laugh SS. This from a Canon user who's Brand spent years chasing HighISO.

Is that so! I could find you plenty of shots in any circumstance where people gather indoors for a Celebration, in Theatre, Clubs, Indoor Sports, Street Photography .........

I'll give you one thing which I suppose is what you meant, really highISO doesn't interest me in particular, never has but a highISO camera has better performance lower down the scale where it counts. At iso1600, the A7r and D810 have a S/N of 34dB and are near enough iso-less up to that. The 6D isn't too far behind even with it's piddling little ( :-D :-D ) 21MPix Sensor. (Sorry, just couldn't resist.)

Knowing nothing about Video, I'm not going to tackle the question of the highISO performance of the A7s but there are plenty of Pro's drooling over that camera. Do those Pros care about the Specs? You Betcha they do!

Stop! You guys are killing me. Every photographer knows that the better your cameras ISO/Noise performance is the better your shot will be when you "NEED" to dip into that range to get your shot. The poster was simply trying to put some photos out from a newly released camera. Draw your own conclusions about whether you think the camera lives up to all it's hype and move on. Sheesh!

Ya know SS. There are some people who just fixate on one item at a time. The sensor one day, ISO the next. The can't quite understand the word S-Y-S-T-E-M. It is beyond them. Don't let them get to you.
