View photos on Samsung tablet directly from my camera

How can I view photos on my Canon 60D camera directly on a Samsung Galaxy tablet WITHOUT transferring them to the tablet? Want to preview them before I print them on a Canon portable printer. Will be taking pictures at a dog show.

On my Nikon d5300 it has a wifi hotspot setting. After downloading the app to my Note 3 the phone connects to the camera. From there I can see what is on the SD card, transfer what I want to the phone (or tablet) or trigger the camera to take the picture as set.

Not sure what my 60D can do. Will check out the manual. Not sure what you mean when you say " . . . trigger the camera to take the picture as set." Does this mean you are using the tablet as a large screen? I've seen a video explaining how to do that and will give it a try some time in the future. I want to be able to see a large view of a picture already taken and on my memory card prior to printing. It's easier to see a picture on a large screen than on the camera's screen.

You will have to look at the app store for all that it does do. It's Nikon WMU, wireless mobile utility.

But quickly yes it allows me to see the shot, see the settings, change a few things, snap the picture, and automatically download it to my smartphone or tablet. Unlike some remote releases the phone does not have to be pointed at the camera.

The wifi ability is one of the reasons I went with the D5300. It allows me the increased view of what I'm shooting vs the view finder or the fold out. There are some draw backs to live view, slow, battery drain, but when I want to use it I have it.

This is my play around hobby. If I have time for the camera fine if not there is plenty to read and the D5300, to me, is a great place between price, need, and function.

Hi. I'm Murray H, new on the forum.

I just purchased Dslr Controller, referenced by another response in this thread. I've got Canon 7d, so similar though maybe not quite the same as your 60d. I believe the sensor is the same.

What's described below was with the paid version of this ap ($8.00) - i tried the free version but the free version did not 'see the camera'. I had decided on this ap based on an article i found on the 'net, where the author had tried a number of different aps with Canon cameras.

The ap does allow you to see raw files on the camera without an "actual file transfer". It is not instantaneous though. When i put the ap into review mode & select a new photo to view, it is a full 3 1/2 seconds before the photo is shown: about 2 secs in a step called 'transferring' and 1 1/2 seconds in a step called 'decoding'. The timing for photo review after a shot is the same. My take on this is that the whole .cr2 file does in fact get transferred(but not necessarily stored), before the ap can extract the .jpg portion for viewing.

Also, my tablet is a HiSense Sero 8 rather than Samsung, but it is another Android tablet probably working the same as far as "Dslr Controller" ap works.

It will take some practice to get used to the ap, if it's in 'controller' mode, you activate the shutter from the ap - the actual camera shutter is de-activated. Put the ap in review mode, and the camera controls are again active.

I've not really done anything useful with it yet, it's new & i'm still in the "playing with it mode". It did sense the camera right off the bat, once i hooked it up with the right USB cable / OTG cable combo.

If i shoot .jpg, the time delays are about 1/2 as much.
