Can anyone tell me what this bird is? Taken in northeast Nebraska in Oct.
Maybe a Cooper's Hawk or an immature Red Tailed Hawk.

Nice shot. Around here, coopers hawks love hanging out near bird feeders and thumping small birds while they feed. Unfortunately, not in the falcon family but fun to watch. Gary
I spoke too soon. Phil got it right and I got it wrong. It is indeed a Merlin, I didn't see the streak through the eye the first time but see it now. A Merlin IS a Falcon and not a hawk.
