Will be purchasing the 7DII and want to know if anyone out there would recommend a variation to the kit lens included in the camera kit? What would be a little better lens for it's replacement? Thanking you for any suggestions.
What lens is the "kit" lens?
If the kit lens is a 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, you've probably got the best walkaround lens you can get for a Canon APS-C body.

Sorry for not mentioning the lens. Canon EF-S 18-135 mm IS STM lens.
Which kit lens are you looking at? What do you foresee using the camera for?
If you are going to use it for video, you may want the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The STM lens will auto focus while taking video footage a little better than a micro-motor or USM lens. The 18-135mm is also not a bad lens for the price (about $350 when purchased with the camera or $549 by itself).
 The 24 - 105 f4L is a great walk around lens.
Do you have any lenses now? Is this your first canon?
And the big question, What is you budget?

Lou, the kit lens is turning out to be a very good lens.
Also though, you need to know that it's the most versatile lens if you are going to shoot video at which the 7ll is top notch.
IF, you will never use the video, or its a very low priority, then another lens might be better.
The 24-105 is always mentioned. BUT it's NOT very wide. It's crop equivilant is the EFs 15-85 and I recommend it. But your needs may be very specific.
And the kits lenses are highly discounted as a package if you can use it. Good luck ;-)

Also another great EF-S lens is the EFS 17-55 mm 2.8 IS USM lens, which I have, is very sharp, fast focusing and worth the price.

What is the total price including the lens?
The 24-105 is not wide enough. The 18-135 and the 15-85 are not fast enough. The Sigma 17-70 is. And, it is cheaper. The 17-70 dovetails perfectly with the 70-xxx lenses.
If you want quality, get the 24-105L lens which is far superior to the 18-135 EFS lens. I had the 18-135 and found it not as sharp as the 17-85 EFS lens which is long in the tooth but built tough and keeps on ticking. For those times that you want wider, get the new $299 Canon wide angle.

Your never going to get an "L" lense thrown in as a kit lens on a cropped frame camera, ie.. the 24-105. It's an EF lense and you're camera takes an EF-S lens as it's normal "kit" lens, although the "L" 24-105 works fine on that camera. The 24 becomes a "28"mm.
As for "kit" lenses, the 18-135 is the one that is most common. Then the 18-200 has also been offered. The 15-85 is a neat lense, and has been offered as a kit camera before, but you lose your zoom, if you need it.
I think you'd be happy with the 18-135. If you had a choice, obviously either the 15-85 EF-S or the 18-200 EF-S. The 24-105 "L" lense would be neat, but your not going to get that offered as a kit lense on that camera. Remember, it becomes a 28mm wide angle on that camera at the bottom end.

Yes, but its not terribly wide on a crop body. The OP might also consider the Canon 15-85mm.

Your never going to get an "L" lense thr... (

Actually, the 35mm equivalent angle of view of 24mm on a Canon crop body is 38.4, rounded to 38mm. I assume your 28mm reference was just a typo.
