Wonderful photo's...I was there with my family about two months after it blew, wow what a difference.
It was totally gray and they were still plowing the roads of ash.
I have not been back since, so I just loved seeing your photo's.
I'll see if I have any images of when I was there.
Thanks for sharing~ sue

I was near Mossy Rock when it blew on May 18, 1980. Incredible sight.

I remember that day, it was a Sunday, May 18, 1980. all the ash blew east (during later eruptions the ash blew south). The area repopulated with animals sooner than anyone thought (God's design is greater than we know). My only complaint is now it has become a tourist trap, you pay for everything you want to see.

Wow, hardly seems that long. I was in Los Angeles for the big one, but lived in Vancouver WA for many of the smaller ones.

I was there about 6 years ago.....drove all the way to the top......it was cool.......driving down was the scariest thing I have ever did..............my wife set a womens world record for silence...........she kept her mouth shut for twenty minutes(thats correct twenty minutes not twenty seconds)....there were no guard rails and I told her the car brakes had failed.

Have you contacted the Guiness Book of Records?

Love that place, I have only been there three times since the eruption and what a stark contrast. Nature will heal itself just fine over time. What I thought unusual was seeing all the forrestation on the way to the mountain that had all the trees the same height from when they were replanted. Nice photo's.

You should have called Guiness, could be a world record.
