Use LR 5 and PS CS6. Bought them shortly before CC came out. Use LR for basic Editing and effects then PS for some things such as composites, blending, layers, etc that just can't be done in LR.

I also use Elements 12 because my older version of Photoshop won't recognize my D7100. But I do most of my work in lightroom, then open it into photoshop directly, so there is no real problem. Lightroom rocks for 95% of my needs.

PS & LR? Two different tools, some overlap, use both.

I have a Nikon D7000. I own LR 5.5 and some old copies of Photoshop 7 and CS. I also own PSE12. I had a trial of The latest PS and used it in conjunction with LR. I downloaded into LR, did my raw conversion and much of the cleanup. Then took it into PS for more advanced lawyers work. I was retouching a family shot of up to 9 people all who needed RT.

When my trial ran out I tried to go back to my older PS and found that some of the functions like magic wand selection or the healing brush were not very good compared to CS6. So I tried PSE12 which is good but missing some key features and limited to 8 bit. So I'm sure in the future ill subscribe to the Adobe Cloud. Right now my wife is laid off and I've not been able to work due to 4 back surgeries so another monthly bill is not in the mix right now, even if its only $10.
