I saw this video light advertised for sale, it was accompanied by this picture (ADMIN will probably move this to the Gallery as he does every post with an image).
Can you spot why this likely will not sell to anyone who knows anything at all about lighting????
Video light has to be constant, not flash. This will drain a battery quick, and get hot.

Uhhhhhh, it IS constant, that's why they are called "video lights".

Big shadow!
BINGO!!!
How are you going to light a subject when they are in the shadow caused by the light itself????
Its often amazing what people put on the market trying to lure the uneducated buyer.
Get a "pancake" lens.
(I prefer waffles myself)

Yes, that's correct. This looks like it's mounted in a hot shoe, like a flash. There is no apparent power cord.
If it's running off the camera battery, it won't last long. And it will get hot...not good for skin or camera.

I took a shot the other day with my Sigma 8mm Fisheye and an SB-910 mounted on my D810. I for got to turn the flash head up for bounce and the flash is actually in the picture! I have a lot of fun with that fisheye.

What power cord? Stick a couple AA batteries in it and turn it on, you have light.

Then use a flashlight. I think we all agree there are things wrong with this rig. You asked for opinions, you got one.
For starters, that hood needs to be removed!
I do use these "video" lights quite a lot. 128 bright white LEDs per pod, they click together so I use 2 banks of 4 for product photography, each bank mounted on horizontal bars on tripods. The lamps give a very balanced shadowless light.
If they were advertised in a way to show off what they are capable of, the traders would sell a lot more of them.
I have never even thought about mounting any of them onto a camera, don't think I will.

Definitely not designed to be used ON camera, but on a 'remote' mount with hot shoe connection. Maybe it also has a 1/4-20 thread in the mount area?
Just goes to show that the MARKETING people are NOT real photographers!!

Quite right.
I have found dozens, if not hundreds, of poorly presented products all over the internet that are clearly the end result of people cruising sites like Alibaba.com where they can buy literally ANYTHING made in China in bulk lots. Just because it seems cheap does not mean they should be trying to sell it. Posting the picture above as a selling image SHOULD chase off a whole lot more people than it will interest.
Just goes to show the lengths idiots will go to trying to make a buck when they are too lazy to go get a real job.
That said, I have found that two of these smaller video lights work really well when mounted at 11:00 and 1:00 positions on a Fig Rig to shoot video with. And they use little power so a pair of AA batteries last a long time in them. There is good stuff out there that many people will pass up simply because of the above poor presentation.

That illustration reminds me of a photo shoot in an office I worked in 20-25 yrs ago. They were shooting an office desk with a PC and phone and REMOVED all the cords from the computer, monitor and the cord from the phone to the wall. But the final result SHOWED the EMPTY sockets!!! Marketing people are NOT the sharpest people around!!
