I used my PENTAX K10d and an old manual PENTAX 100mm macro @f-11, slave flash on right side about 18 in. Iso-200, shutter spd. @ 1/180, and lots of luck!
# 2 pix was PP. 1 & 3 are straight out of camera. Bowl was blue plastic to catch water drops.

thanks i will also try this and if they turn out i will share them , thanks for all the settings i am just learning ,
I saw this the other day and had to try it also. Here is my atempt. I don't have but one flash so I used homemade lights. The 1 flash I have, was off to the right and I used a pocket wizzard to fire it remote. Plus I used a wireless remote for the shutter. I have pourchesed a fish tank at Walmart for $13.00 and am going to try colered dyes and other liquids soon. You can get some cool effects. Your pics are very nice. I found that water is'nt thick enough so I am looking for something else to use in its place.

Try adding Glisern to the water, just a little.
Did anyone know that when a water drop hits water it actually bounces a few times and sits on top of the water.

These suckers are hard to do, it took me hours to get about 15 keepers. Try to get lower so your shooting straight at the drops instead of down. It's more dramatic, and gives you a larger percentage of the image in focus. What was your drip source? I used a bag with a hole in it clamped to a dowel rod above the water pan. The drip is ALMOST in the same spot everytime, put a tip of a pen or something in the water where the drips are hitting the most, and focus on that. Changing your WB to tungsten or fluorescent will give you different shades of blue/aqua. You can also shoot in RAW, and adjust the tint to turn the water green. I took a red outdoor floodlight and position it to the right of the water. This didn't turn everything red, just certain parts caught the light. By putting a white foam board behind the water can, and bouncing my pop-up flash off of it (with a diffuser), I was able to get shadows infront of the splash for something a little different. Lots of luck, have fun.

Glycerin dissolves in water, this might not work. I never tried, though.

Can you buy this at Walgreens? Grocery store?
What about the colored water? Background paper?
Love the blue bowl idea, when I did this I used a casserole dish inside a black bag, but I like yours better. Did you have a problem with noise, because I certainly did, but that can be taken care of in PP. These are great, keep them coming!!
I used a black foam core for the background. The liquid is orange soda. I'll try food colloring from the grocery store next time.

I got glycerin at Michaels. I'm sure you can find it other places. It is used in baking, it helps stabilize the colors when making icing.
