I am not wealthy and I have paid more than my fair share over the years. While entitled to do so, I haven't taken a tax refund since 1998. My country has been good to me and I do not mind paying into the pot.

However, you again misrepresent the real world. Republicans have never pushed for cuts that would damage children. They have consistently pushed for enforcement and fairness in existing programs including immigration. While the Democrats cry out for the common man their agenda is always about increased taxation. There is no such thing as "Corporate Welfare", what is being referred to are legal tax deductions. All passed into law by the Congress.

The American worker has sold his own soul by constantly electing these clowns who never follow through on their promises. Yes, I am including Obama for a second term in that group.

From 2007 to 2010 the Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate. Under Obama the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer. What exactly have the Democrats done to help anyone but themselves?

Assumptions with proof are insulting. I wrote nothing to lead anyone to assume what you did.

If I was to assume things as you do I would take the position Larry Payne would; based on your writings you must be a paid shill for the DNC. You seem to be able to spend all day, everyday, on here pushing the liberal agenda. Your only goal seems to be insulting people.

How do the deductions being legal make them not be welfare. And, how do the takeaways on food stamps, welfare, unemployment etc. not hurt children?

We all, including corporation's, pay in estimated taxes during the year. Most of us do it through payroll deduction. A legal deduction reduces the amount you are required to pay. Since most of us overpay during the year the resulting refund is simply a payback of the overpayment. Corporations are no different. If you get a tax refund after your final filing do you view it as welfare? Is the personal deduction allowed to you as an individual welfare? If a corporation can deduct the amount it paid towards employee health care, is that a corporate welfare payment? According to congress when the deduction was passed it is an incentive for corporations to provide health insurance to its employees. Corporations are responsible to their share holders. Share holders that own pension funds that purchase their stock. People like you. Corporations can and have been sued for failure to use their money wisely.

The programs you point to such as unemployment, welfare, food stamps, etc.. have gotten to the point where too many people find it better to not work than work. The Republican view has been to reduce benefits to the point that people will find it advantageous to seek employment rather than live off of the taxpayer. There is a myth that there are no jobs. There are jobs but not enough people willing to do them when they can make the same money on welfare and unemployment. There are people who will say the Democrats are hurting these people by keeping them dependent on the government. The parents of the children are hurting them with their lack of ambition, not a political party.

At least I can construct a sentence and do not need to call people childish names to bolster my ego. I am going to v**e for the first politician that will declare a holiday the first time something intelligent comes out of your mouth. I expect that to be the day hades has a freeze.

I make $46.20 hr, the max unemployment I can get (unless it's gone down, and it may have, is $1800 a month. My rent is $1900 a month and I'm lucky to have a place for that. How is that enough to encourage me not to work. I'm 64 and believe it or not there is some age discrimination in the work place. Also, employers like to hire someone who is already working, and the longer you have been unemployed the harder it is to get work. If you get to where you can't afford a phone and computer I don't know how you would ever get work. You and I don't have the power to lobby for special exemptions. I'm not talking about the ones you listed. When I was unemployed my unemployment was too much for me to qualify for food stamps.

This is not personal and I was at no time referring to you.

I have a neighbor who makes well over $3,000 a month from welfare, unemployment, food stamps and other payments for her and her three kids. She gets several thousand in tax refunds even though she pays no taxes. The local McDonalds has workers putting in double shifts everyday because then can't find anyone willing to work. They offer $10 an hour to start. The local ACE Hardware only offers $9 to start.

I know a 25 year old man in West Virginia who voluntarily took drugs and became an addict. He also developed an attraction to alcohol. Now he is declared totally disabled and receives 100% disability payments from Social Security. Because he could not work he collected over 90 weeks of unemployment from his last employer in addition to his disability. I only know what he told me. The tax payers are footing the bill for his bad behavior. Is that fair? That is what the Republicans want fixed.

I have never collected unemployment or welfare so I can only speak about what I am told by people who have and what I read. Payments vary from State to State and even in counties, so I am not familiar with your area. I am very familiar with Philadelphia and the methods people use to c***t the system.

I am also older than you so I am very familiar with the age discrimination you refer to.

I like anyone don't like to see someone c***t the system and get for free what I have to pay for, but I find it makes more sense to worry about what I get and not concentrate on what some else is getting away with. As far as your one example goes, I don't know what the cost of living is where you are but I would h**e to have to raise 3 kids on $3000.00 a month around here. A few years ago I hurt my back and was on workers comp for over a year. I received $3200 a month (the max at that time) and although I try to live rather frugally and it's just my wife and I, I ran up credit card bills that I still haven't recovered from. As far as the addict, while I don't really like paying for him, what he did is not supposed to bring a death sentence. We should put some effort into cleaning up c***ting, we should also make the safety nets such that one doesn't need to c***t to survive. I don't think the average person is going to ruin their life with drugs and alcohol just so they can live off public assistance so I don't think we need to worry that we will be encouraging it. As far as not being personal, I realize that you didn't get personal, but to the person whose lifeline you want to take away it is very personal.
As far as you never collecting any assistance, good for you, but I hope you realize that at least some of that was luck. My recent bout with pneumonia brought home to me that my being so reliable at work is at least partly luck. If my health holds up I'll probably be working at least into my late seventies, an I'm OK with that, retirement probably k**ls a lot of people. But, if my health fails me I haven't a clue what I'll do. That isn't how it should be. I'm very good at what I do, have a high IQ and so on but financial planning may not be one of my sk**l sets. Should it have to be?
