How can I show pictures on my Samsung tablet so they can be seen before they are printed out. I have a Canon 60D and a portable Canon printer than I can connect to my 60D in order to print pictures. I had tried a HDMI, but there was no way to connect it to my tablet.

Transfer via Wi-Fi, or you can simply use a micro SD card in an adapter, put those images on the Micro and then plug it into your tablet and they will be available in your Gallery.
I use the Western Digital My Passport Wireless External Hard Drive unit as a personal "Cloud" unit. Transfer to it via Wi-Fi, USB or direct from your SD card. Then you can access any of those files or images via free WD "My Cloud" APP or software download from any Wi-Fi equipped device. These are the coolest units I have ever seen, and they operate off rechargeable batteries so you can literally take them with you ANYWHERE.

I don't want to transfer them to an external hard drive. I want to plug my camera directly into the tablet so the pictures can be seen without having to switch back and forth. I can print directly from my camera. I just want a larger viewing area than the LED screen on my camera so the pictures can be seen better. My other option would be to buy a digital frame that accepts HDMI that is attached to my camera.

One note of caution with a photo frame...more than likely if you shoot in raw those photos will not show on the frame. I have had two and they require the raw to be processed first. They may also only accept jpeg. Something to check first even after the raw conversion.

You can install Dropbox, create a folder on your computer, and another on the tablet. Install a file syncing program - I use FolderSync - and I have it set up to sync a folder in QuickPix to the Dropbox folder. I use the QuickPix app as a portable portfolio on my Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 - the images look amazing at 2600x1600 resolution.

I believe you can purchase a USB cord that has the micro USB plug on both ends, so you can plug one end into your camera and the other into the Galaxy Tab, for a direct transfer of photos. And no, I don't believe you can put RAW files on the tablet and view them.

To view Raw files in Android you need a raw viewer app - there are several on Google Play. I use RAWDroid demo. The price is right (free) and it handles CR2 files very well well, but the free version has a watermark.

I use an Eye Fi X2 pro card to wirelessly transfer them as they are taken.

Also, depending on what camera brand you use, you could transfer them with the native wireless software.

You are not correct, and I misunderstood the OP's intent as well. Camera to tablet, direct, no intermediary device.

If he wants to load the pictures on the tablet, he will need the proper OTG cable to connect to the tablet's USB port, and provide a female USB connection to insert the male connector to the camera's USB cable.

I am not sure that you can use the camera as a mass storage device, like a flash stick. But I am looking for that solution just in case it exists.

You can also download a paid app from here http://connect.dpreview.com/post/7236815772/raw-processing-on-android-with-photo-mate-r2?page=2

to view and process raw files on android.

I don't want to transfer the photos to the tablet, just be able to see them before they're printed out. These are photos I would be taking at a fun dog show, subdivision event, family event, etc. I would then print them out.

So all you want to do is use the larger tablet screen as a viewer. Gotcha. So in that light, I'm not sure, how you would do that, but I'd think there, has to be an adapter to plug the camera's USB cable into and then plug the, adapter into the tablet's, USB port.

The problem I am finding is that not all cameras function as a USB/Mass Storage Device. The solutions I am finding either work with a camera that will work as an MSD (camera menu choice), or connecting a card reader to the tablet with a Y cable so that you can provide power the card reader as well, in the event that the card reader needs power (usually), and the tablet does not provide power (often), and just reading the card. I use several android apps that can tether the camera (DSLR Dashboard, Helicon Remote), but they only control the camera. They cannot review the contents of the SD card.

IF you don't like the Eye Fi suggestion, here is another way that this person is doing what you want

Not really. As I mentioned in my previous post, unless the camera can function as a mass storage device, it won't work.

I did a blog post a while back - I use the portable router with DSLR Dashboard and Helicon remote with a D800, and there is no way I can read the contents of the SD card - the camera does not have a mass storage device mode. I believe my D200 could be switched to MSD mode - or so I remember.

CamRanger, will allow you to see on a tablet as they are shot. Or a computer screen. It's similar to the WiFi option but better and better costs more!
