Green eye in animals is the same as red eye in humans. Put your flash off camera, or have someone get the animals attention to look just off camera when you shoot.

if you run a photo editing program you can try red eye reduction.

thanks, I had red eye option on the camera. This is a reflection off the lens of the eye. you can see her optic nerve, so I know it was well focused. lol. I will have to play with it more.

As the resident ugly hedgehog eye doc, you guys are driving me nuts. It is not the lens causing the reflection nor can you see the optic nerve (it's about 1.5 mm in diameter in real life). Red eye is caused by the RETINA. I may not know much about photography, but I do know eyes. And I love this website.

you might be able to get rid of the reflections by shooting at a little bit different angle such as from the right or left even from under it up at it. After looking at it I wounder also if it was taken at a different location with a darker background behind the camera if it would cut the reflection.

Red eye or the bluish glare on animal eyes comes from the coating on the retina reflecting a bright light. The red eye tool will not work on the bluish glare from an animal's eyes. Either human red eye or other colored undesirable reflections in animals can be eliminated easily without a dedicated tool for that purpose. Select the surrealistic eye. Desaturate the selection. Then darken it with curves or another tool till it looks good.

Well it was a quick shot photo. She lays there waiting for me to get home from work. I looked up the stairs and had my camera ready and it was so cute I did not have time to play with it.

Try bouncing your flash rather than directing it directly at the subject.

If you didn't bounce the flash and you end up with resulting photo, take another photo without flash. If you like this one with the flash better, use photo editing to copy the eyes from the non-flash photo and paste them into this flash photo.
