Macro in the morning.

I saw this beastie, this morning, while going out to get the paper. I have not yet tried to figure out what flavor of spider this is, but it looked pretty interesting, and had a good web, although I couldn't even see the web, at first.

I can't decide which of these I prefer. The camera settings were the same, for both shots. I used a tripod, and a Speedlite. The Speedlite was connected to the camera via an ETTL cord, and I held the flash at distinctly different angles, for each shot.

This web is in a protected spot, in a corner, where wind should not be a factor. There was no wind, anyway. However, the web did sway, a bit. I couldn't see the sway until I put the camera in Live View, and watched it move.

I like #2 better, but to say I like a spider, yikes!

I like both of them, but I couldn't help wondering what a little mist on the web would do. Probably chase the spider away!

You know, the mist trick didn't even occur to me. Next time.

I like the richness of the color in photo 1
Great Job.

I prefer #2. Brighter, lighter, so can see details better. Though I'd be perfectly content if #1 were all I could capture :) Super shots!

I like the lighting better in number 2 but number 1 seems to me to be a bit sharper. Well done. If you don't have something like a 6X8 Fotodiox diffuser it would help with your overall lighting.

These are nice close-up photos, but not enough magnification to to be considered macro-photographs. A macro requires 1:1 magnification on the camera sensor.
