I haven't shot these in a while so I stopped by tonight to try the HDMI function on my camera. There is just too much disparity between the shadows and the lights at the base for it to work well. Looks like additional lighting may be the answer but I currently only have one speed light... Any suggestions would be welcome....

Maybe try to shoot 'em when there are no lights at their base and then use light-painting.
