For a battery grip, I would go for it. In no time there will be plenty of 3rd party grips out there. Just make sure what you buy is BG-E16 for the mark ii.

BG-E7 definitely will not fit 7D Mark II. BG-E16 is the new grip that's designed to fit and work with the 7D2.

BG-E7 fits and works with the original 7D.
