Hello fellow Hoggers. As some of you know, I'm an old film guy. The other day I was digging through my cedar chest and run across my old Argus C3, "the brick". It brought back some fond memories for me. I decided to dust it off and take the ol' black box out for a shoot. Then I realized I didn't have a light meter anymore, poo. :(
So I went on Ebay and found 2 of the little ones that go on top into the hot shoe. Won't know if they work for sure until I get them in the mail. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Then I'll be off to take the brick for a spin.
So fellow Hoggers, how often do you dust off the ol' manual camera?

I use my Pentax 645's regularly all summer. Nothing like medium format film for landscapes. I have 40 rolls of Fujifilm Provia 100F just waiting to be loaded. Some old TMax hoping for an opportunity too. (But that usually get used in the TLR)

I still have one of those, was my fathers, I keep it stored in a dust free area, shooting digital now, much happier, Bob.

'How often do you dust off the old manual camera?'

Just wish I could, My Argus C3 is resting about 2,000 feet below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. Sure loved the "Brick"!

My dad gave me an Argus when I went to Europe on a class trip in '70. It was my 1st 35 MM and I loved it. My daughter bought me one a few years ago. I'd never part with them.

That's a nice photo of the camera. Did you take that yourself? If so, how did you eliminate the background?

My first camera was a minolta that I got from my grandmother. Forget the model but it was a tiny silver/grey thing. It had a dial for aperature and one for filmspeed.

It came with a little bracket and flashunit with a tiny sync cable.

I eventually broke it, but it took great pictures--got harder and harder to find film for the little thing as it used an odd film size.

LOL, not exactly as I remembered it, but it was the Minolta 16 Model P.

I had a couple of them too, one small push pull dials on end, one a bit larger, some kind of dial on top, big ones gone, haven't seen it in years, both used minolta 16mm film, used to develop the B&W and reuse the cartridges, spooled B&W 8mm movie film. Bob.

Instead of fishing on camping trips I take my 1938 Crown Graphic View camera and play Ansil Adams. Fun to do and fun to have kids of all ages look on the ground glass and see the upside down image. Darkroom work is fun too. - Dave

I had a Augus C3 when I was in the Coast Guard from 1959 to 1963.
I shot maybe thousands of pice. All slides. I can't remember why I did slided though. Probably because it was cheaper than prints.
It took really good photos which still surprises me because they were kind of hard to focus.
I stumbled across mine a few days ago. I don't remember even stowing it away.

My wife had a range finder camera from the pre-digital era. About a month ago she took it out to look at it, as it is a fairly handsome machine. To our shock, somehow the batteries in it were still able to trigger the shutter.

I shoot with a Voigtlander Bessa and a Voigtlander Perkeo II, whenever possible. I just like how they feel in my hands. Their small folded size is also a plus. They are medium format that fit in my pocket. I mostly shoot without a light meter, using the Sunny Sixteen rule of thumb. This "rule" used to be printed on the inside of every box of film. I have used the rule for decades. from the 60's to the 90's. Oops, I still use it.

Read what Wikipedia has to say. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunny_16_rule

I have a couple old SRT Minolta SLRs I bought in the Army in 1972-73 and take them for a walk on ocassion. Great to slow me down and concentrate on the details.
Still function flawlessly.
