I like the way the light comes through this tree almost every morning when I finish my run. I've tried to capture that golden glow off the lake coming through the tree in an abstract way.

Honest critique is welcome.

Beautiful and clear, nice strong lines.
I don't get a golden glow though, its more muted to me.
Don't be scared to fake it in post work to get that golden glow that was true to the scene.

I loaded it twice to UHH. The second time was better, but still not what I am seeing on my screen in Lightroom.

You like it? I am so unsure of this type of thing. Thank you for commenting, Lighthouse.

This is my kind of picture, not just taking a shot of what you see but letting you soul drop the shutter at a time it matches your emotions and what your feelings were at that moment, --the viewer has to look through it to get the true beauty of the picture. Lovely work

Love that shot. The stark silhouette against the glow. The sharp foreground gradually blurring as you move toward the back really give it a feeling of depth.

Lovely shot. If you have NIK at a guess without being able to try it the Skylight filter and a touch of Glamour Glow would give you what you saw when you shot it.

Running is not my thing anymore, but your image a good starting point for an abstract. As it is it's just a photo of a tree and an orange sky but you have an eye for a potential abstract. A little post processing and it could be an awesome image. Place your image in the PP section and you'll see some outstanding abstracts, maybe you'll become an abstract artist.

Thank you, Billy. I so appreciate specific suggestions when it comes to pp. I will. I do have all the Nik products.

I'm intrigued, Shakey. Any specific suggestions for me?

I like the abstract of the tree with the single strong line moving through the image. I think I'd like to see the background not be quite so flat. Perhaps if you could either bring out some more color detail in the background (not detail detail, just color nuances) it would be more interesting and more what you saw. I know that happens to me - I see something lovely but it photographs as flat. Then I think it was my imagination!

I have quite an imagination myself! :-) Yes .. I'm going to work on it with the suggestion Billy made.

I like the circular array of "Y" shapes formed by the limbs. If I were you, I'd go after it with NIK Glamour Glow, fiddling with the temperature controls till it looked like it should. If it softened the limbs I wanted sharp too much I'd try masking/ selective sharpening of those limbs.

You could try using a radial or a graduated filter to introduce not just a subtle graduation of light but a subtle graduation of tint as well.

And watch the sharpening (or is it Clarity) - there are artefacts appearing along the edges of some of the twigs and branches already. If you want to hold on to or enhance the silhouette effect, don't forget the Blacks slider.

As you have NIX, I have no suggestions. I don't have that software. I rely on GIMP which gives me many many options for creating abstracts. I would post some examples here but as you don't have GIMP the examples would be just me showing off.
