I just got this in an Email, I thought I would share.

GET A RECEIPT AND CHECK IT BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE

A LOT OF SHOPS NOW ASK IF YOU NEED A RECEIPT????? LEAVES IT WIDE OPEN DOESN’T IT / (I’ve noticed this lately H)
Keep the Receipt

This is worth reading if shopping at stores....
They do not automatically hand you a receipt anymore if the sale is under $30.
You must ask for it…

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS BEFORE LEAVING THE CHECK-OUT

An associate bought a heap of stuff the other day while on holidaying in Melbourne (over $450), & when he glanced at his receipt as the cashier was handing him the bags, he saw cash out of $20.

He told her he didn't request any cash and to delete it. She said he'd have to take the $20 because she couldn't delete it.

He told her to call a supervisor. Supervisor came and said he'd have to take it. He said NO Bloody way!

Because taking the $20 would be a cash advance against his Credit Card and he wasn't paying interest on a cash advance!!!!!

If they couldn't delete it then they would have to delete the whole order.

So the supervisor had the cashier delete the whole order and re-scan everything!

The second time he looked at the electronic pad before he pinned in his number and again cash-back of $20 popped up.

At that point he told the cashier and she deleted it. The total then came out right

The cashier said that the Electronic Pad must be defective. Obviously the cashier knew the electronic pad was defective because she NEVER offered him any cash after either of the transactions.

Can you imagine how many people went through before him and by the end of her shift how much money she pocketed?

His wife went into a Coles Warehouse last week. She had her items rung up by the cashier. The cashier hurried her along and didn't give her a receipt.. She asked the cashier for the receipt and the cashier seemed annoyed but gave it to her.

She didn't look at her receipt until later that night when back at their Hotel. The receipt showed that she had asked for $20 cash. SHE DID NOT ASK FOR ANY CASH, NOR WAS SHE GIVEN IT!

So she called Coles who investigated but could not see that the cashier pocketed the money.

They then spoke with a friend who works for one of the banks; they told them that this was a new scam that was bound to escalate.

The cashier will key in that you asked for cash and then hand it to one of her friends when they next come through the check-out queue.

This is NOT limited to Coles; they are just one of the largest retailers to have the most incidents.

I wonder how many "seniors" have been, or will be, "stung" by this one?????

To make matters worse .... THIS SCAM CAN BE DONE ANYWHERE, AT ANY RETAIL OR WHOLESALE LOCATION!!!

IT COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING THE CHECK-OUT.........

...CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!!!!

I've since seen people do just that…..SO NOW I'LL START!

PASS THIS ON TO YOUR FRIENDS, KIDS, LOVED ONES -
let’s not get ripped off.

Check your stories before posting. This is another load of crap:

http://www.snopes.com/fraud/atm/cashback.asp

I'm not suggesting that cashier fraud doesn't happen, but not in this case.

It's very rare that I'm asked if I want the receipt. Of course, I do.

Ask for a receipt AND a bag or bags to put your purchases in. Lots of places are asking if you want a bag also, which makes no sense to me.

I always get paper. At home, I put wastepaper in them and then burn them in the wood stove. It's beats paying $5.00 to bring a large bag of garbage to the town dump.

Due to Radiation Treatment for throat Cancer in 1998, I no longer have productive Saliva Glands...Because of this I have to carry water with me at all times. When I go into a store I often take it with me....Many times over the years the checkout clerks have charged me for a bottle of water and I am not aware of it till much later. They don't ask if I brought it in with me they just ring it up manually....So checking those receipts is no longer an option for me, but a requirement. I have also noticed that grocery stores that scan bar codes to ring up an item are often ringing up more than the price listed on the shelf, or sometimes multiple times when you only purchased one item. CostCo recently charged me three times for one item purchased...In this case the clerk actually caught it and brought it to my attention. The error increased my total by over 20 bucks.

There's a more devious scam going around as well:

Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it. This will only become more commonplace as the weather warms.

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or Costco customers. This one caught me by surprise.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds.

You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen November 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also December 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 28th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant.

Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at K- Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco.

Can you remove the label from the bottle?

In NY, we used to have a law about supermarket prices. If an item scanned for more than was posted, the item was free, you got twice the cost of the item back, and I think there was another provision. I tried that at a non-supermarket and learned that it applied to supermarkets only. I don't know if that's still in effect. I doubt it.

The bottle is not scanned...they just key in a price. I keep it in my hand....I now ALWAYS tell them I brought it in with me. A while back I was in a WalGreens and the checkout clerk (I was in my police uniform) started bitching at me about all the cops she saw run yellow lights. I was in there getting something to snack on while on route to a police officer's funeral 90 miles away. The officer, a female, had been shot in her gun arm on a car stop. She wasn't able to get to her gun and the bad guy (A Lawyer's son) walked around to the rear of his car where she was on the ground, and shot her point blank in the head, killing her. One of the saddest police funerals I have ever attended (out of Dozens). Watching her young kids sitting near the casket and her husband, also an officer on the same department, trying to comfort them was gut wrenching. Anyway, that clerk charged me for the water I had in my hand that I had brought in with me and I was not in the mood to go back and get my money back because of my thought processes at the time.
