I wish to eliminate Picasa and use another program for gathering, storing, editing photos. Suggestions?

If not Creative Cloud, get a standalone copy of Lightroom 5, the hands down favorite here whenever a poll is taken... You can do a 30-day trial of the Creative Cloud, go to adobe.com.
Thank you, thank you. I've downloaded your suggestions and will try the 30 day freebie.

I'm curious why.
Agree with. I have often used to scan my computer and found long lost photos. Uses little space and is a great back up for Light Room.
Gives a great visual of what photo's are on my machine.
I agree. But for some reason I cannot export a photo to my email. And I wish to do just that. I'm trying something else for a bit, and agree that I most likely will revert to Picasa. I do like their easy editing.
Caution:
I deleted Picasa and when I did this all the photos I posted in my blog on blogger.com disappeared. I searched for a way to restore them but learned there was none.
I had backups, of course but it took hours to add them back to my blog.
I don't know if eliminating Picasa has this effect on others sites but do be sure you have backups before deleting the program.
I had some neat slide shows I made while using Picasa. Don't have Picasa on the computer anymore, now have Lightroom. I can watch them and link them but cannot download them to my computer.

And why don't you have Picasa on your computer. LR and Picasa will not have a problem being on the same machine.

Emailing Photos Solution: one of the members some time back shared a solution to emailing photos directly from Picasa. The member suggested I log out of Picasa, restart PC and then launch Picasa and log back in. That solved my emailing of photos problem.
