Cool Critter -
It's been a bit cool in the mornings lately - in the low 50s at dawn. I found an Anole on a Sennabean (Sesbania drummondii) bush. I think its brown color was an indicator that it was stressed from the temperature. Normally I prefer these when they are bright green but I like the contrast of the brown against the dark leaflets. It started to stir after a few shots but its movements were very slow. I extended my index finger out and it climbed onto the back of my hand. I could feel its cold stomach. My body heat must have been a warm welcome. I sat in my field stool and watched it. I could see it was nervous but the allure of my body heat overrode any fears it may have had. It lay still for several minutes and then started to move. I extended my hand towards the Sennabean and it was quick to jump on the plant and work its way into the interior of the bush.
Second photo is 5:1 of a cold Anole eye. Didn't hammer home the focal plane as well as I wanted but did ok. Photo has a compositional crop.

Excellent shots. I liked both, but the second one is my definite favorite.
Thank you for posting.
Thank you for the kind comments Mike.
Nice. Good to see you back.
Nice shots, now you have another job for the cold mornings.
Amazing photos! I really like them.
I noticed no reflection of the diffuser in the lizards eyes. Is the lighting that soft? Looks as if ambient light only. P.S. Glad your back.

Thank you Sarah, nice to read that you enjoyed the photos.
Nice captures William...Seems you are having pretty much the same weather, maybe a few degrees warmer...

It is good to be back Martin thank you for the sentiment. Lighting is soft but not that soft. There is a little reflection in the eye if you look closely you will see it. Glare is shielded a bit by the brow ridge and the fact that I pushed the diffuser forward so the flash heads were over backside of the subject.

Thanks Scott, yes weather has been very odd here. "Cold" front blows in late in the week and we get very cool weather on the weekends. By Monday the Gulf air takes over and it warms back up. We've been on this cycle for the past few weeks. It does have advantages, as I have been seeing plenty of naturally chilled subjects to practice on...
