Amazon is offering a free, no limits, access to their cloud for storing your photo. In order to use it, you have to have a Prime membership.

I'm still trying to figure out whether that includes all file types (i.e. RAW). I suppose I'll have to just try uploading and see what happens.

Note: They do not support Mac's at this time. Unknown when the will. You can still use there Apps for Iphones and IPads.

I have Amazon Prime so I decided to give it a try. Yes it will upload RAW, at least my CR2 files, can't say about NEF. It is kind of slow. I've been uploading for about 30 minutes and only 25 of 73 pictures have uploaded. Oh well, it's slow, but free, I can live with that.

Slow and free, I guess I'll give it a try with my NEF files as a backup backup system to my external HD.

My experience is that any original upload to a cloud is brutally slow. It took about 10 days to upload all my stuff to Backblaze. And I had only about 1TB--not all that much. After the initial water torture, the incremental/continuous backups are not bad.

I am into sharing my photos with others, with Drop Box I just make a folder and share the folder, it seems I can only share one picture at a time with the Amazon Cloud.

Does any one know the roundabout, if there is one.

An email from Amazon.

Hello Clint,

I understand your concern regarding the unlimited photo storage in Cloud Drive for Prime members. I'll surely help you with this.

Prime members have free unlimited photo storage in Cloud Drive. Any photos you already have saved in Cloud Drive or any new photos you upload will not count towards your storage limit.

Your existing storage can be used for personal videos, documents, and other files.

The unlimited photo storage benefit includes most major image file types: JPEG, GIF, (both animated and non-animated), most common TIFFs, RAW, PNG, and BMP.

At this time, you can only store unlimited photos.

For more information about Cloud Drive Photos & Videos file requirements, please go to:

**Do get back to us for any further concerns and we'll be glad to assist you.

Please visit the following link to provide the information we requested:

I hope this information helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best regards,
Vaibhav V

Yes, but for $99/yr, Prime has its benefits. Free and faster shipping hundreds of free movies. I buy a lot through Amazon so the free shipping part is great for me. And now, cloud storage.

I'm beginning to think there free shipping is misleading. I'm seeing items Labeled as prime marked at higher prices to pay for that shipping.

Just my personal observation.

sometimes...but not always. Either way, it's best to always shop around. In my case, due to where I live, Amazon Prime works well for me.

This has potential to be a great feature of prime.
Amazon is a major cloud player.
Yup the unlimited is for pictures only.
And the launch is been a bit bumpy but over the long haul I think this will be a great prime feature as my 2 free years of a 50 GB Dropbox which Samsung gave me with a smart phone purchase will run out soon :-)

I never use Amazon for storing my photos. I only prefer a free cloud storage. My friend suggests me use CloudBacko Cloud Storage (http://free.cloudbacko.com/?r=1d). It's free and easy to use. So, I use this software for my data storage. Thanks
