Mornin', everybody. Long time, no see. I haven't posted in quite a while but I still visit, look, and learn everyday.
Back in late March I entered this photo in a contest hosted by "Southern Living" magazine at the urging of a friend. The contest was several months long and I was informed last week that I'd actually won the thing.
This shot was taken on Bayou Dorcheat near Doyline, Louisiana at sunrise on Easter morning. I was sitting in a moving Bass Boat and shooting twisted around over my shoulder. It was just such pretty light that I had to "Hail Mary" it and hope it would work out.
I'm not sure what happens with the image from this point but I'm expecting a packet in the mail which, I assume, will explain all of that. So, a chance for publication? Maybe. But I don't really know, yet.
Anyway, you Ladies and Gents have been so instrumental to me pursuing this hobby turned love that I just wanted to share. Thanks and thanks for the look. :)

Congratulations, John. That is an incredible accomplishment. I hope it leads to more experiences equally good.

Congratulations - for winning, but mainly for seeing the pic, grabbing the opportunity, and doing the business. Del
Thanks so much, everybody. If it hadn't been for all of the people on this site always being so willing to help and encourage, I'd have probably put my camera in a closet after the first week. Y'all are awesome! :)
Congrats! It's a great image.
Congratulations. And that is a lovely photo.
Good job awesome shot, that is exactly why I carry a camera work me at all times, whether a point and shoot or my Dslr, you just never know when that "perfect" shot will present itself.
Wonderful news, but the photo IS a winner. Congratulations.
