Where is Dorset? Sorry didn't realize it was in Vermont. Below the Connecticut info I am giving you the link to Wikipedia on Dorset VT. Birth place of Bill W. and the oldest marble quarry in the US. If in Connecticut, Essex Steam Railroad and River Boat is great this time of year.. Foliage and wildlife plus the river and a steam train.. not to mention the old Witch Hazel plant (weather vane is a great Halloween pic)
Also Thimble Islands, and the tourist trap Mystic Seaport.

Go to either Google Images and/or Flickr and do a search for Dorset VT -- at least you can find what others think is worthy of their photog efforts.

Being a New Englander myself, just take any back road (with a good GPS) and the photo ops will be there, whether old barns, waterfalls, creeks or ponds. There's sure to be deer in the meadow and cows in the corn.....

You're pretty close to Rte 100, one of the prettiest drives in the country. You could drive a few miles south to Manchester (a great New England village) and then east to 100, north up to Plymouth, Calvin Coolidge's home. Back to Dorset by a different route. Great day trip of just about 100 miles.
