Personally, I like the first crop better. It frames the picture. The second crop intrudes and becomes distracting. Just my opinion though.

1 because 2 introduce distraction behind the tree to the left.

I think I'd try a more drastic crop and play around with contrast, hue and saturation. See example below.

I sort of like #2 better, a little more depth in the photo. But I get the framing in one.

I like 2 better, having more of the tree trunk adds more interest.

no #1 is better, the lines in the leaves lead the eyes to the old stump that is missing in no#2
