Has anyone heard or read anything about when LR might be updated to support 7DMkII RAW files? Hopefully soon.

It usually takes a couple months from introduction of new models for Adobe to upgrade. Its coming, but so is Christmas! ;-)

And Christmas will be first.
Open your Raw file in Digital Photo Professional, then under Tools "Transfer to Photoshop." You can then save it, and open the saved file in LR. At lease this is a work around until your LR is updated.
Digital Photo Professional is on one of the disks supplied with your purchase.

Is that a program that comes with my Canon camera?

Basil I was so excited as I placed my name on B&H list for the new 7d MkII. Then I began to read that most programs have not allowed it to convert Raw images yet. I called B&H on Sunday can canceled my order for right now. I will get this camera when my programs support raw. Till then I will just keep shooting away with my Canon 7d. Thanks for your heads up.
How come you people be so hard headed? Digital Photo Professional (DPP) is a very good program and nothing is gonna process Canon Raw files like DPP. All of the strength of the features of DPP aren't readily intuitive but Canon have some tutorials that explains it all. If you haven't looked at it, and you should suddenly do so, you'll feel stupid for not looking at it earlier and especially stupid for not buying a camera because your outdated Adobe software is... well, outdated. They'll catch up, of course, but not looking at DPP is certainly no reason to not accept shipment of a new model camera. I use DPP for about 90% of my image processing. It does all the necessary stuff including compositing, hdr, noise control, color, contrast, you name it and it does it almost all but layers. That's probably on its way. Oh, and if you can't find your disc that came with your camera, you can download it at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras and select your camera type and go to drivers and software downloads.
The DPP disk that is shipped with the 7D Mark ii is totally capable of converting RAW files from DNG format. So I too add there is no reason not to order a 7D Mark ii
