Our high school kids put on a fall musical every year. They work for months at it, and they are very professional. This is my first attempt at taking photographs in this sort of venue. It was very low light, no flash allowed, I had to stay in my seat and keep down so I wouldn't bother anyone behind me. I used my 100mm. I thought about my 150-500, but it only stops down to F5.0 and it may have been too long anyway. I was also worried it would be a bother to other people around me because of it's size.

Looks like you did a good job with the light available. I do think the white balance is a shade off.

That's something I think about regarding pictures taken under stage lighting. Stage lighting uses different coloured filters for effect, do you replicate those effects in a photograph or do you correct to a "normal colour"?
Just wondering :-)

A foray into a new area for you.
A very credible effort.
The white balance is close enough for me.
I maybe would have liked more room on the left side of the image but think this is a wonderful testament to the capabilities of todays cameras and your understanding of the light.
Well done.

I would try to correct for what I was seeing. Did the actors look this yellow? My guess is that while they may have had a yellow filter on the lights the actors to the audience's eye appeared a normal color.

It's funny, Judy. I am not seeing the yellow. I do like my images on the warm side, so perhaps it's a matter of preference.

Nice job from an enforced off-stage site at a HS play! Color balance not a problem for me. Exposure and focus good and good attention to framing.
The actors, Director, and school ought to like them!Next play, try for access to dress rehearsal!
