My first tripod moon shot with Zilla. I love the shadows in the craters. Gosh, I'm like a kid in the candy store!

I think the wife deserves to have me take her out for a while since she let me buy this thing. (As good an excuse as any.....right?)

Can you say "Absolut!" Chao!

Very good moon photo.
Below is my hand-held moon shot using my Tamron 150-600mm @ 600mm.

Thank you, bcheary. Years ago on Lake Powell, I saw some moon shots from a passing boat. I didn't want to see the detail there.

I was just in my back yard with my camera/Tamron 150-600mm lens and took a hand held shot of the moon.

I used my Canon 6d full frame camera which has great resolution coupled with this Tamron 150-600mm lens makes it a winner. I tried last night to get a similar shot of the moon but there was a thin cloud layer and it didn't have the sharpness of the first moon shot. The night sky has to be exceptionally clear to get this detailed moon photo. I took several photos and picked the best one because they were hand held just doesn't guarantee every shot will be perfect. Any good SLR (eos) camera will give you a good detailed moon shot. The contrast and detail are very important, especially the contrast.
