Canon will void any warranty on your printer if you use a 3rd party ink.

No manufacturer can not honor a warranty if you use third party parts / supplies and have a problem that isn't related to the third party item. That would be like auto manufacturers saying you couldn't have anything done to your car unless you used their parts / supplies. That includes Canon.

The third party would be liable if their item fails or causes a problem.

I'm curious as to how would you force a third party supplier to fix your printer after their cheap knock-off ink gummed up your printer? What, are you going to chase a company probably based outside of the U.S. Are you going to sue them over a printer? That's just throwing good money after bad.

I've used Epsons all my life and won't use aftermarket ink anymore. I've had 2 previous Epsons malfunction after using cheap ink for a few months. How much are you saving if your printer dies? Remember the old saying: If something is too good to be true, it usually is.

I've had my current Epson for five years and it works great. I've never used counterfeit ink in it either. Be your own judge. It is the price of doing business(sort of).

Do you have a Cartridge World near you? They refill cartridges for a lot less than buying new and you get to reuse insteead of trashing. If they don't have one maybe you could look into the franchise and open one yourself

The Cartridge World in Gresham Oregon didn't fill photo ones, mostly laser.

of course it would have to be related to the inks. Canon told me they would not honor a warranty if 3rd party inks are involved in the problem. And, yes they can not honor their warranty if it goes against the terms of that warranty. Tell Canon not me, I'm only relaying what they said to me.

When a manufacturer chooses not to honor a warranty on a product using third party items, it's a moot question as to whether it's legal or not. By the time you win your case in court (if you do) you could have bought half the company by the time the lawyers get through with you.
