Got my hands on this really sharp older Minolta 50mm prime AF lens. It seems to work just fine on my Sony A77.
Nice and sharp, and short depth of field for under $100... Any/all thoughts appreciated.
Shot with Sony A77 w/Minolta 50mm Prime Lens @ ISO 160, f/2.5, S 1/80 sec.

Thanks for posting. I’m just starting to explore my nifty fifty. See my post “What do you use your Nifty Fifty for?” for some responses from fellow hogs on what they use their 50 mm primes for. Including one very nice shot from MWAC.

#2-to me has too much brightness, and a little out of focus, or it was (just because of Brightness) #3 Made me hungry The 50mm seemed to work great on the m&m's.

Using a prime lens offers some challange to proper distance for proper focus. I think all the pictures are good with the exception of the focus on the second one.

These are not separate pictures.. There is the main shot, then just exploded views of pieces of that shot. So of course with the short depth of field only on point (mm's) are tack sharp. I just added these as a case study

Never realized they were from the same shot. You're right about the DOF. Nice shot.
