A friend of my retired from the Air Force and always forwarding some interesting links. This is one on the X-15. A good read. Enjoy.

Great read, appreciate it, funny the part about flying the F-100 later must have felt like "driving a dump truck after driving a dragster".

Thanks, Dogman, for posting the link. Nowadays we go about our lives, take trips at high altitude in airliners and seldom if ever give thought about how we got there. In reality many people gave their lives testing aircraft and theories that ultimately lead to our safe air travel.

I remember watching a film about that flight. It is an amazing aircraft. We have a mock-up of one at our air museum in McMinnville, OR.
