Grabbed this on my way home last night. Ackard & Main, downtown Dallas... ISO800, f5, 1/4 sec. w/ tripod & remote. (D5100 w/18-105mm@18mm) I'm looking for some suggestions for another go-round.... Up the Exp. & f-stop & lower the ISO???? Use on-board HDMI? I'll probably have to go w/ available light....

That is a very nice photo! Under similar lighting conditions, including neon colors, I have done HDR triple exposures (or more) with really great results. I have done it with Canon's in-camera HDR and with Photomatix - good results from both with Photomatix being quite a bit more dramatic.

It depends on the look you are trying to achieve. If you want mainly the fountain, you might up your SS or lower your ISO. That would close out some of the peripheral lights. Or lower your SS to get a motion blur on the water.

Using just camera, tripod and remote release I'm trying to get the best balance possible. The soft , flowing water look with out the blown out highlights and enough color balance and detail at the sides and in the background to make an interesting juxtaposition. A few light trails for effect might be nice as well..... I may be asking for too much from the on board HDMI. But then again - if wishing were fishing, a bullfrog wouldn't bump his butt every time he jumped .. :-D
