I took these a month ago today in a very familiar and loved State Park by the people of Indiana. I got excited when I walked into Turkey Run Hollow and saw that sunbeam shining in. :)

Getting a little artsy with a close up of the stairs. :)

It's not difficult to see why folks would enjoy going there.

Very nice! I love the sunbeams and the water in the second shot. Was the sunbeam shot in the same location where the people in #3 are?
Oh, and I love your "artsy" shot, too!
What town?

Great picture, that first one.

Thank you for taking the time to comment I appreciate it!
No, the people were in a different canyon.
The closest town to Turkey Run State Park would be Marshall. It's a rather small town though.

Thanks Paul! I love catching sun beams in the canyons.
The park is pretty in the winter also when there is snow on the ground. :)

Haven't been to Indiana much. My daughter went to Purdue, but my wife generally went there when we were off from work.
Beautiful location for a shoot. Liked you inputs. #1 just screams for HDR treatment.

I work at Purdue, I posted a subject on Dec 22, 2012 titled: "Any Boilermakers out there?" It's a picture of the Purdue Memorial Union, but nobody got the Purdue reference... Probably just confused people. :)

Okay I did a little HDR treatment to the first one... I don't often do much HDR, probably because I see it overdone to much. I don't like the "comic strip" look that I see sometimes. My thought is to make it look like what I remember seeing with my eyes in my brain, not make it leap off the screen and strangle my eyes.
Anyway here is my HDR treatment of the first one, any more and I thought it was overdone.
So is this what you were thinking djtravels?

That's complicated... I am in IT customer relations, but I don't do IT work, I'm in a video delivery (shall we say) group. Various video related things and some video engineering as well. That's the short version. :)
When did your daughter attend Purdue?
I believe you have found a happy medium John. Some of the details that were less noticeable are much easier to see. I'm not a big fan of overcooked processing either.

Thanks Mike. It's right on the edge of overcooked in my mind. I more often use the "D-lighting" in my Nikon Capture NX2 software or Photoshop to brig out shadows. It's amazing to me how much is in those near black shadows in the raw file from my D700. Really like that camera. :)
I donated a framed 11x14 of the first photo and three others to my daughters school fund raiser. I will be curious to see what they sell for in the silent auction. :)
