I just got an offer to upgrade to lightroom V3 for $79.95 I am using PSE 10 now. Would it be worth the cost to do it? How much, and what, are rhe differences in the two programs? How well does lightroom handle noise?

Lightroom 3 is the old version; 3.5 is current and goes for $149.00. V4 is right around the corner.
I'd skip V3 and go right to V3.5 or V4.
But....PSE and LR are two different products....how is there an upgrade path between them?
I think that PSE and LR compliment each other very well...I'd keep both.
meybe upgrade was the wrong term. Should have just said an offer to buy.

If it were me, I'd spend the 149.00 to go with v3.5.

It looks like you can do an update for free to 3.5 from version 3

It's 69.00 at B&H today!!
A MAJOR steal!
LR3 and Photoshop Elements work very well together. I do most of my work in LR but sometimes drop the picture into Elements for addtional tweaking. Elements is a great bargain and can do much of what CS5 for a lot less.

Yes, I agree. I've used PS for at least 10 years. God it on a student purchase for around $200 and have been able to upgrade to each new update for the price of the upgrade.
If I did not have it, I would get PSE 10 and skip PS entirely. That's just my usage and needs, of course, not a general statement.
Cataloging is not an issue with me so I see PSE10 as more useful than LR3.
I got a notice to upgrade a couple of days ago when I started the program.
They really should do something about upgrade/update. I think if there is a change in the name (3.0 to 3.6) it's an upgrade. It there is an "improvement" but the name stays the same, it's an update. How does that sound?
i like both,i start with light room and move to el.10 if needed
