Photographed at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River, NY. When I took this picture I thought the bee was alive, but after the creature did not move once the image was made, even with prodding from me, the realization that he/she was deceased dawned. Hopefully, being amongst all that pollen helped with the transition.

Nice shot Bmac... the Bee made it easy for you by giving up its life...

You didn't know the bee was dying to have its picture taken, did you, Bmac? Nice memorial!
Do you think it was old age. Or had it just stung some soul ???

Well, it hadn't stung me! I think the temperature from the evening before did him in. 8-)

So much easier to get a dead bee in focus! :-)
LOVE the color and composition.

When I die, I want to have a giant flower like that to be put on.
Very nice photo.....I like the colors, composition and interest level. If you had not told us that the bee was dead we would not know!

This is a species of long-horned bees. They often sleep in flowers, in a near catatonic stupor.
Interesting, so perhaps the fella wasn't dead after all. Good thing I didn't have him buried....or worse, cremated. 8-)
