I wonder if any of the Hogs have experience with photo book vendors. The internet lists many, but I would like to get a read
on someones experience with a good vendor.
I have used many, but Blurb.com is the most versatile. They have a variety of paper choices and finishes. Hard cover, soft cover. The most professional, and most flexible for layout and design.
I am a Macintosh user with Aperture for processing and managing images. I have had very good results designing books within the Aperture functionality and then uploading the finished book to Apple for printing. The best results for me were with their hardback album and dust jacket with the cover photo. But they are pricey.
Recently I have used Walgreens photo service for books. Good results with their software. Create an account, login, upload your pictures and create an album on line. The software is pretty fast and flexible. If you have the images in order the software will even auto populate or layout the book! The best news for me is the price. An 8.5 X 11 hardcover book with 30 pages (lots more images say 100) is $30.00. Walgreens will send you coupons by email, today the photo books are 40% off, now we are talking $18.00. And in my area there are a few Walgreens with new equipment that will do same day service!
Just a few ideas.

Do you want to publish and sell a large number of books? I've had Adoramapx print several for me, but just single copies. Color printing is expensive.
I've not tried it, but Costco does it. I checked Walgreens and they have stopped doing it.

I second that!
And although I use their software on my computer, I make the entire page in Photoshop Elements, including page colour, text and/or captions, drop-shadows, embellishments, etc. - in other words, I work it like a scrapbook page, then upload the entire page to the software as a full-bleed page.
If you want to use this method, you do need to figure out how large (in number of horizontal and vertical pixels) your page needs to be, including the left or right edge for binding.
Probably more information than you wanted, but as to the quality of the Blurb booka, I was very pleased, and so was (among others) my granddaughter, whose weddingbook I made.
FYI, I checked. There are several Walgreens in Omaha NE that offer same day service.

I stopped at a big, new Walgreens in Texas yesterday. If you print several 8x10s, they will sell you a nice looking spring clip binder to hold them for 99 cents. The clerk said they don't bind photo books like Blurb, Costco and various online print services.
I have used My Publisher with good luck and reasonable prices.
My local Staples office supplies also does it. We also have two local publishers of weekly shopper newspapers who offer a variety of custom printing to the general public, including books and calendars. May be some in your area.

I've made a few using Adoramapix and have been very satisfied.
I done many of 11"x 14" lay flat photo-books for sale purpose with Snap Fish
I had use Costco, Kodak, and Blur.
As coming to the quality Snap Fish is second to none.
BUT, the cost is a big issue on large size books for me able to sell my books.
So,,, I wait Snap Fish offers, and they are often all the way for 50% it is a time when I'll sending my orders in.

My wife and her friends have used both Shutterfly and My Publisher (they might be one company now?) and have been very, very happy with them. Easy, quick, affordable, and very professional results.
I use Apple which make fabulous books. They make my photos look better than they really are! The Apple photo books print with nice resolution. I have made a lot through Shutterfly. I make one each Christmas for my adult kids and their families. They are great for that purpose and I will do them again this Christmas.
