I'm not a football fan so trust me when I say that if someone ripped $11,000 plus out of my wallet, the last thing out of my face would be an apology. Ouch!
It was stated in the article, "As has happened a thousand times before and will happen a thousand times again, ShepardÂ’s momentum took him out of the field of play and into the photographersÂ’ row". It should be expected by the photogs that things like this will happen from time to time. If they want the shot they will have to take the risk.

Maybe it wouldn't be the last thing out of your face, but it should/could at sometime. Why ridicule the photographer? He stated he felt really bad. Your comment sounds like it comes from a pompous jerk!

As Ed stated, he knew the risks and it comes under the heading of occupational hazard but I don't know of too many people who could shrug off a loss like that, especially if one makes a living from it.
That's like telling someone that they rear-ended you because you were stopped at the light and were in their way. I'm sorry if my point of view offends you but I work in a prison and I've had my fill of people who think they are entitled this week. Next week, I'll just keep such opinions to myself... If this puts me in the category of pompous jerk, so be it. I've been called worse.
