View finder eye will be done first! Everyone has told me their horror stories and negatives. Would love to hear some positives.

I have had both eyes done. They were done one year apart with the worst eye first. I used to see several moons when I looked at the night sky, now I see one. It is a wonderful thing. I still need glasses sometimes, but not as often. You will love your new vision.

The whole world will consist of brighter and more intense colors. That's a big plus to a photographer. You will be more sensitive to bright light; sunglasses will take on greater importance. Recuperation will be short and in all likelihood problem free. It's the best and easiest medical procedure I ever experienced...for each eye.

I had a friend back in the 80s, now deceased, who had the
surgery and it greatly improved his eyesight.
My ex just had surgery and it improved her eyesight a lot,
she will have her other eye done this week. I have not heard any horror stories about cataract surgery, doesn't
exist, just haven't heard any.
Why don't you Google the drawbacks of cataract surgery?

Best thing you can do for yourself. When I was about 62 I started to have a problem. Within a year I had so little vision left I couldn't see my own feet clearly. But of course I put it off. Then my Dad had a medical emergency and I had to drive out of state to see him at the hospital and I almost didn't make it home again, I knew it was time. Almost immediately I felt like a kid again, and feeling foolish for not having done it sooner, before it became dangerous. I had been lucky. Just go for it and listen to the post surgery instructions carefully. This particular surgery is a far cry from what it used to be many years ago. I've had worse experiences at the hairdresser than this.Good luck.

The only PITA is the drops you have to put in your eye(s). Other then that, they have all told you about colors, brightness, etc....

Both of mine were done. I still need reading glasses but it's not a world stopper. No trouble with the camera menus or with the view finder.

Had both eyes done in 2007 2 weeks apart. Piece of cake. Now I can legally drive without glasses though I don't. Still need glasses for reading and astigmatism correction.

Love my new eyes. I see color, I see edges, I can drive at night without fear for my, or anyone else's safety. The only problem was the patch I had to wear for the first few days.

You didn't miss your chance to go around saying "Aarrggh" did you?

I would almost recommend that you have yours done my eye doctor. I had both of mine done and see 20/20 out of each eye. My doctor works for the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, so he is paid by the hospital and by the medical school as a Professor, so he doesn't have to worry about the expenses of a private practice, and the measuring equipment in the clinic is top of the line. He took plenty of time to measure my eyes (twice, 30 days apart) because I had astigmatisms. I just got regular Toric (for astigmatism) lenses, nothing fancy, both for distance vision. As a result I need to use glasses to read and for the computer. If I were doing it over, I might consider paying the big bucks for the lenses that adjust to allow you to focus both near and far. I think they run about $3500 for each eye. The other choice which a lot of people do is to get one cataract done for far focus and one done for near (reading) focus. I understand that a lot of people are happy with this, but I decided against going this way and preferred both to focus at distance. Also, I switched to this doctor after my private physician gave me his costs for doing the surgery. I probably saved $2500 per eye by switching to the UTSW doctor and having the surgery done at the hospital.

Good for you! It sure makes a difference when you are in the right place. We used to live in Texas. I'm going to have both eyes done for distance and hopefully only have to wear reading glasses also. Thank you for replying.
