Help! My SB 600 is refusing to come off the camera (D7000) seems like the locking pin is stuck in the locked position. Any ideas?

Nikon supplies a little hotshoe cover for use when no flash is attached, its purpose is mainly to prevent dust and debris from getting inside that pin hole and causing the lock pin to stick.
Best suggestion I can offer is to make sure the lock lever is fully in the release position, turn the camera upside down, pat it with your hand a little bit and see if that loosens the pin and lets it drop back up into the flash unit, the pin is not spring loaded so persistence may get it to drop.
Good luck.

Good info, Shooter. I have the same equipment...but hope never to have to use that info.

I removed the 4 screws from the bottom of the flash, with some degree of difficulty, then proceeded to unplug the 4 pin connector fixing the mount to the flash body. Then I removed 2 screws holding in the locking pin assembly, and removed the locking pin. So far so good. Need to check the pin for straightness and cleanliness, as well as the camera body. Them we try to reassemble and see if it works. There wil be a number of fail safe checks before I close up the unit.

Since I was unable to figure out how to reassemble the pin unit, (spring does not seem to work from either end of the pin), I have rebuilt without the locking pin, HOWEVER, the unit still seems to lock in place without it. Go figure. The flash works too!!!!! Obvioulsy there is something amiss in the locking lever to pin arrangement. I will continue to use as is and report and problems for those interested in SB 600 and D7000.

Thanks for the help.
