We just got the, "ATTIC", but we're in dire need of the "basement"!!😄
Yes, so much of what goes on here is just Show & Tell. And we need a place that's big enough to park the BIG BROWN TRUCK while it off loads our new camera gear!!
What about those vacation pics that get posted, just so we can see how truly bad they really are, they belong in the gallery, but we all know they wouldn't last 10 minutes there and they'ed be buried 10 pages deep and counting.
The, "Got My new Toy", announcements belong in the candy store with the other kids! I guess their spouses just aren't impressed, so they have to bore us.
Then there are the serious, "real jerks", the veterans that have been here for years but shove one of their political/religious rants down our throats, knowing full well it doesn't belong here, but will get at least 3 pages of air-time before admin banishes it to where NO ONE will ever see it again. Those guys should get an automatic suspension!!
Apart from the Canikon wars, it just seems like not much happens here anymore.😄😁😍😜!!!

It's not just you. The amount of interesting information seems to be dwindling. The amount of tripe posted by retirees with nothing else to do but post something... anything... is exceeded only by the never-ending praise replies and questions such as "HELP ! I don't know how to turn on my new camera". I may be banished but I agree with you completely

Please be more specific for those of us who haven't had the opportunity to be a member here when it was much better. I've read your narrative a few times.
I don't really know where I stand on the issue as expressed. The forum will always lead in the direction the members point it in. Thankfully, we have categories presumably built up on members suggestions. I have tended to follow the format with which I have been presented, or as I see it.
The political discussions don't really hold my interest so usually, not always, give them a miss.
I love the photo gallery to see some fine images and to view parts of the world I have never been to, or never will. I have commented often to gallery posters because I have generally admired the image(s). My own humble postings are for critique, to show my part of the world or it was a "good" image for my capabilities.
The knowledge passed on has always been interesting although some not for me, I don't do flash for example. The amount of advice and assistance passed on by our more more experienced members is immense. There are so many members who provide informative links, etc., etc.
Your point I read is "Not much happens here any more." Can you perhaps tell me what format you would like and perhaps take it from there? I have noted the departure of "quality" photographers but otherwise no notable change.
I value all your comments and please accept my contribution in spirit it is given.

How about sending those guys to the basement that all they post are links to some POC. If I really wanted to read that stuff I would go directly to it rather that sift through just to find some meaningful/interesting posts.

SS; I belong to several photography forums and tend to agree with some of what you have stated. There never seems to have a day go by and someone is posting where their post does not belong. A mistake can and does happen, but over and over, they need to be dropped from all the conversations, as they can't play by the rules! Nikonian is right on, there are specialty forums and they are great.
Having been on here for awhile now, it does get old when the same questions are asked over and over again. Like, should I buy................ or I have that GAS again! Maybe administration can form another topic on "I've got the fever" or "I want to buy or have dreamed about"
