Hi guys,

I need some help please. I'm thinking about buying a Lee Foundation Filter kit for landscape photograph but not sure what size to get. My friends told me to get the larger 82mm. I shoot Nikon full frame cameras. Some of my lens are, Nikor 24mm-70mm F2.8, Nikor 70mm-200mm F2.8 & Nikor 16mm-35mm.

Thanks
Rob

I'm guessing you're talking about the square, or 4x6 filters? If you get the 82mm ring you might be able to get step-down rings for smaller lenses. I bought the 77mm ring as it is the most prominant size in Canon (especially L) lenses. I would highly reccomend the 4x6 filters over the square, they give you that extra 2 inches to slide the graduated ND filters to meet the horizons. I bought the Singh Ray 4x6 Galen Rowell 2, and 3 stop hard edge ND filters. Not only can you stack them if needed, you can slide them to different heights if the horizon isn't perfectly even (they seldom are). They were not cheap, $160 each. You can also buy an adaptor that allows you to spin the filters in different directions if needed. My next filter purchase will be the 4x6 Singh Ray ND filters for sunrise/sunset. They start dark in the middle, and get lighter towards the top, as the horizon is usually much brighter than the rest of the sky during sunrises/sunsets.

Yes, they are a good company. If you go with the 77mm adaptor ring, you may have to look around as it is the most popular one. At the time, filter connection and b&h were both sold out. I got mine at some small camera store in central PA.

Hi Pigpen,
You guessed right on my question regarding the Lee Filters. I talked to a staff person at The Filter Connection, she told me she would e-mail me with all the items I would need to get started. Thanks for your help.
