Hello All
I'm here for my maiden voyage into the forum - I am a new Nikon D5100 user, and have been slowly trying to absorb the cameras capabilities. Here's a sampling of what Ive got so far, and encourage any/all comments

The beer bottle kinda kills the shot of the lab...The sunset is nice, but tilted. The silhouetted tree doesn't tell me anything. Keep at it, though, we're all here to learn.
thks JimH - good inputs. Feel as if Ive learned something already.
I like the silhouette, it seems to tell me that tree has been there a looonnng time. The tilted horizon can be fixed easily by cropping and turning the image in your photo editing program. Both are good in my humble opinion.
I love the shot of the dog with the beer. It may be a snapshot, but it is a fun snapshot. He looks like my kind of animal. Happy and contented with his drink close by. Plus we both drink the same kind of beer.
I personally got quite a laugh out of the dog photo. I like it for that reason. I don't see it as just a photo of a dog. I see a photo of a dog and one of things he likes to do.
I really like the tree photo. Nice composition, color, subject, focus. I did notice the two little extraneous things on the left side and cloned them out. There was an almost imperceptable slant in the horizon. I straightened that.

agree with the beer bottle, get it out (And buy better beer!)
I however am fine with the tree shot. Love it outdoors.

the beer with the dog would have been more effective if the dog looked like spuds mckenzie. (oh god I m showing my age) it could of had a dogs playing poker vibe. The shillouetted tree is to me a mood photo. It reflects calmness, end of a hard day relaxing with my favorite dog and his beer. the entire shot has a mellow vibe to it.
I like the Dog with the bottle. I hope you don't mind me putting a little more focus on the Dog by blurring the background and the bottle a bit and cropping. Don't know if this helps or not?
More focus on Dog.
not at all - I wasnt able to alter the background with my software, otherwise I would have tried it. I have the stock Nikon program provided with the camera. What are you using?
