Not asinine, but without merit.

On the other hand, none of your comments has had any merit either because they lack specifics with substance. The "capable of better results" is amusing, because in a 600 pixel wide thumbnail there is no way to judge "better" from "worse" between even cameras more distantly related than those.

Without having cropped sections to view without any resampling, it is impossible to compare sharpness. With a JPEG image it is impossible to see the effects of dynamic range greater than 8 fstops on noise.

It isn't enough to say that a test needs greater structure, you have to explain what specifically will provide that structure.

I didn't post here to start an argument so if it makes you happy just write whatever you believe and let's just leave it at that. OK?

I hate it when a good discussion comes down to a silly semantic battle! The OP should have realized that the cameras had no effect on the relative merits of the images. This just goes to prove that the primary difference between the two cameras is one of ego. Take those pictures with a good film camera loaded with Kodachrome, properly exposed, and tell me which is the best camera. This whole thread has become asinine and without merit - and it's the idiots who judge a camera by its technology level that made it so. What a waste of time. I do, however, love the unwatch button!

Touché. But I'd prefer esne status to being a rude, boorish lout.

So Edmund..(the Op, it's 5 pages now!) having owned both a 300 and an 800...we would like to assume he realized this was not a well-controlled comparison. It cannot be guessed at from technological merits or lack thereof...only by what you were thinking Edmund...c'mon now, if trying to think what you wanted everyone to think..it's time the game is over and tell us which is which? We have to go wih a wild guess based on...nothing...it's still fun..I'll go for the second being the 800.
Edmund...are you there? Out with it!:)
