I like to remind them who pays there salary and who they are working for.
So far, that hasn't worked though.

Yupper - be nice. Also if you carry, announce as soon as possible " I carry " then be prepared to tell where the pistol is.

I got stopped on the Pennsylvania turn pike at 4am the trooper walked up to my truck and said you did not think I would be out this early did you.
I did not reply so he said I'm going to let you buy a little stock in the turn pike this morning.
I said I would not do that if I was you, He said why I said with the stock that I now have one more share and I will have controlling interest and the first thing I plan on doing is fire all you bastards.
He said lock that truck up you are going with me. He took me to see the squire.
He told the squire I have a smart ass truck driver here.
It cost me $15.00 for speeding.
This was back in the sixties did not matter how fast you were going fine was always 15 bucks on the turnpike

More like 10 times that price.
Two different views.
Coming out of Yosemite 25 years ago I was stopped for speeding. Talking to the officer he asked why I had chosen the route I had to go home. He thought going another way would have been better. I laughed and ask him if he had ever been down that other road and told him its not possible to go 75 down that very crooked road. He laughed and as we talked he told me about mining for gold that day in downtown Mariposa and we both shared some other interesting things. More like two friends shooting the breeze. After writing the ticket he advised a short cut I could take that would mean less time for my drive home. He smiled and said that they dont patrol that particular road.
I still received the ticket but for less than the speed I was going.
At the home of my boss one day an officer pulled into the drive. He wanted to talk to my bosses son he had seen driving earlier. The son had a suspended drivers license. Son, started mouthing off telling the officer he couldnt come in later and write a ticket. The officer was polite and was explaining that he could do just that. I tried to tell the son to calm down but he started calling the officer names. The officer who had finished the ticket started writing another ticket as he walked around the sons car. Broken windshield, bald tires, bad windshield wiper blades, broken taillight lens and the list went on and on. Instead of a simple ticket he talked himself into a huge fine for all the stuff. And the officer kept smiling.

It's why they became cops. :D
Having the current local policeman's ball (or similar) sticker in the window does't hurt either!
Loved this article, it has everything right down. I've never been ticketed but one day, if I shall be, I'll know what to do. Thanks Jerry! :D
