Adobe is coming out with Lightroom 4. I understand it is nearly $300.00. I can get Lightroom 3 on Amazon.com for $129/00. It seems to me - not being that familiar with the differences, that Lightroom 3 seems like a bargain for the money difference. Lightroom 4 would have to have a "lot" of major improvements to justify spending the extra bucks. I am asking those that are knowledgeable to give me soon advice.

Maybe I will have to spent the extra bucks. I am pretty much a novice with Lightroom -very much in the learning stages.

I appreciate your input. I will study it more and maybe download the trial version. I was attempting to email with Lightroom 2, it hung up on me and I have yet to get it in the operation mode.

I understand that the free trail offer is almost impossible to get to load, buggy maybe!

I just purchased Photoshop elements 8 and I have a trial disk for Lightroom "3". I just opened my Photoshop 8 and the disk was inside. I am not sure if "4" is in the stores.

It seems to me that there are a number of incrementsl improvements coming out in LR4 particularly in noise reduction and recovery tools that I will look into when the time comes and if there is a discount to upgrade as I have LR3. There will also be the abilty to email directly from LR, ability to do some video editing which LR never had and a completely new module for making books, interfaces for geo locating your photo and a few other new features. Go to:

to see more

If you buy LR 3 for 129 when LR 4 released upgrades are cheaper.
I have been using LR 3 now for 3-4 years and love it but LR 4 is awesome

For $300, I'd want it to correct the lens itself, and not just the photo. I'll stick with version 3.

A lot of good suggestions. I did not realize that the upgrade was so reasonable. It looks like an individual could buy LR 3 and upgrade to LR4 for less than LR 4 will cost.
