SX60 Moon Shot

I just got the SX60 camera. I do think it is a little easier to focus when zoomed out and it does seem to take better pictures in low light -not as much noise. I don't like that I have to go into the menu to adjust the iso. On the SX50 the iso button is much easier. Here's a picture of the moon I took with the SX60. This was handheld, manual, iso100 f/8 1/60s.

Super-duper, Terri! So glad you posted. Please be sure to keep us informed of your likes and dislikes. Hard to imagine they didn't put a button on back for ISO. Is there a shortcut button you can assign for that?

Looks better than what I have gotten with my 300L but mine were handheld.... After seeing this I will have to get the old tripod out, but I suspect that at 300mm not being a long lens will not get that detail, looks like the small Canon cameras are getting to be pretty good.

Thank you Greg! I still prefer my Canon 7D with my 100-400L lens but I'm not going to be able to get as close as I can with the sx50 or sx60. I'm curious how it will do with something that is moving. I probably won't be posting those pictures.LOL. Terri

Thank you Linda! I don't think there is a short cut. I'm not happy about it. I'll let you know as I get a chance to use it more. It does seem to have better focus when you're zoomed out all the way but maybe not enough to justify the extra price. I do think it works better in low light, for me that is a big plus. I'm not having as much trouble with noise when it is zoomed out all the way. I'll let you know as I try it out more. Alan bought a new boat so I think he felt guilty and brought this camera for me. I'm loving the boat as much as him so this was a win win situation for me. Terri

Thank you Angela! I'm not sure about my new toy. I'll know more once I have a chance to play with it more. The beauty about the moon is it doesn't move so it is easy to get a decent shot. I do think it is better about noise and low light. I'll let you know. Terri
