Sometimes a shot can be over-processed. Your shot, I think, just needs to be corrected for color and exposure, not "juiced up." So, here's the shot with these simple, and ordinary, steps:(done in Photoshop CC 2014, but similar adjustments are available in many PP programs)
Color adjustment, "Auto" in Camera Raw Filter. Left in the subtle warm light of the shot without making the blues too strong. A blue heron is barely blue, and in this low sun shot, very gray.

Exposure Adjustment, "Auto" in Curves. The "Auto" in Camera Raw "blew out" (made it too light)

Sharpening, a bit, "Unsharp Mask"

Crop, leaving room for the heron to fly into, while straightening the shot.

Good capture, worth working on.

Thanks for all the work you did on this one but he was that blue that day with all the lighting conditions . It was amazing. Thanks again and you have made want to get to know how to PP.

Hey guys let me give you a little history about that day. I was at Sanford Wetlands with my daughter and another UHH photographer ,that I corresponded with on this forum and arranged to meet us there, and it was a bright overcast day late afternoon . We were walking down the road looking around for a opportunity to shot when we came across the GBH perched in a tree and all us commented on how blue he was. He then tensed to take off and that gave me time to ready my self to begin shooting. Well it happened that everything on my part went well and I was able to get a series of him taking off and flying right in front of me and landing. It was a great experience for me. Anyway I don't know if it was the lighting conditions or what he ate the day before but he was that blue. When I figure out how to post the series of shots I will post them. Also I did no PP before I posted the photo. Thanks for all your help it is very rewarding that you all take your time help me.

Thanks. This thread shows, I think, how important the photographer's intent is in making a photo. It's not just about the craft, but that craft serving the expression of what was seen or felt.

Given your info about the time of the shot and what you remember, I thought it a good challenge to try to capture that. Basically trued up the values of the underexposure, toned down the competing colors (grass) and values (reflected water), cropped to bring out motion, and sharpened.

Still think this a great shot, an eye and camera ready for what pops up.

Wow artBob this looks so much better.I am going to save it and have it printed and hang it up. Any suggestions about where to have it printed? Thanks again for all your efforts.

I have mine printed at a local shop that I found by asking others who did a good job and at what cost. That's all I can think of. Best of luck--and keep shooting! I like your shot.
