Checking in with my decision.
I just want to thank everyone for their helpful and gracious suggestions for a compact camera. Without a doubt this is the most friendly and civil group I've been involved with on the internet.
I was able to hold a couple of cameras in my hand. Regrettably, because overall it was my favorite, the Sony RX100 III was simply too small, even with the grip suggested here. My issue with unsteady arms and hands requires me to have two hands on the camera at all times. Eventually I decided to try the Canon G16. It has been ordered from B&H photo and is expected to arrive on Tuesday.
I'm look forward to giving it a try.
Once again, thank you all. I continue to read the forum daily.

As I said in a previous post, i couldn't agree with you more. The Sony RX 100 is obviously an extraordinary compact camera and indeed one I would have purchased had it not been so small and uncomfortable to hold. I love the camera and would otherwise love to own it. I chose instead the Sony a6000 which I love. Canon makes great cameras, and I'm sure you'll love the G16!
